About The Position

The Louisiana Special School District (LSSD) is an education service agency that provides services to the Louisiana Special Schools (Louisiana School for the Deaf, Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired and Special School Programs). The schools provide educational opportunities to students with low-incidence disabilities and a variety of unique needs. The Electrician Master must be able to perform installation and preventive and corrective maintenance on all aspects of the school's electrical systems and John Controls Energy Performance Contract without significant risk of substantial harm to his/her own safety/security and safety/security of others.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience or training in the electrical trade.
  • One year of the required experience must have been on-the-job experience.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems throughout school buildings, including wiring, outlets, panels, transformers, and related components.
  • Maintain interior and exterior lighting, including building lights, athletic field lighting, streetlights, LED signs, and emergency lighting.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic equipment used throughout the campus, including PA systems, clocks, doorbells, and auditorium equipment.
  • Maintain and repair food service equipment, such as walk-in freezers, ovens, steam kettles, dish machines, warmers, and other kitchen equipment.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical components and equipment in classrooms, student areas, athletic facilities, and other campus locations.
  • Install and service specialized equipment, including ice makers, water machines, medical equipment, and electrical equipment used by maintenance and school staff.
  • Maintain communication and computer wiring systems, ensuring school communication and technology systems have the necessary electrical connections.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and use them to complete electrical installation, repair, and maintenance projects.
  • Complete work orders and maintain project records, including documenting completed work and entering information into the appropriate database.
  • Work with supervisors, vendors, and other staff to estimate materials and repair costs, order needed supplies, and ensure electrical work meets applicable city and state electrical codes.
