About The Position

This role involves working as a lead electrician at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, primarily performing high-level installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems. The position also includes providing lead direction and training to other employees, performing general building maintenance, operating various vehicles, inspecting construction projects, and coordinating with contractors and tenants. Extensive knowledge of other airport systems such as HVAC, plumbing, generators, data emergency systems, aircraft fueling systems, and electrical vehicle chargers is required. The role may also involve acting as a supervisor when needed and being subject to emergency call-back.

Requirements

High School diploma (or GED equivalent)
Five years of related experience
State Issued Driver's License
North Carolina State Electrical License
Thorough knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems including cabling and communications wiring.
Knowledge of North Carolina Electrical Code and building codes
Skills to perform journey level work on electrical/mechanical systems.
Skills to read and write sufficiently to complete paperwork and read schematic designs and blueprints.
Interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships
Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature
Skills to calculate cost estimates and measure items.
Ability to perform journey level work on electrical and mechanical systems.
Ability to read and write sufficiently to complete paperwork and read schematic designs and blueprints.
Ability to lead others on the job site and act as leader in the field
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, contractors and tenants, representing the airport in a professional manner.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to complete computer-based Work Orders and notes
Valid driver’s license with no more than 6 points and the ability to obtain and maintain a City driving permit.
Certain criminal convictions will disqualify individuals from unescorted access privileges and therefore exclude from employment.
Pass a pre-employment drug-screening test and physical examination.
Pass a background check including reference checks, social security verification, education verification, criminal conviction record check, credit history check, sex offender registry and motor vehicle records check.

Responsibilities

Installation, preventive maintenance, and repair of electrical and mechanical systems.
Provide lead direction and training to other employees while working in the field.
Perform general building maintenance work incidental to above duties or necessary to keep buildings in working order.
Compile lists of equipment, tools, and supplies needed.
Operate cars, vans, bucket trucks, and other heavy equipment.
Inspect assigned Airport construction projects.
Coordinate work with contracted construction inspectors and tenants.
Act as acting supervisor when needed.
Respond to emergency call back for equipment repairs and inclement weather.
