About The Position

The Electrician is responsible for the design, plan, installation, modification, and repair of automated industrial control equipment. This role requires a thorough understanding of electrical systems and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment, PLCs, ladder diagrams, AC and DC circuits, electrical sensors and switches, motor controls, and safety circuits. The position involves installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electric motors and equipment (120, 240, and 480V), completing preventive maintenance tasks, and documenting work. The electrician will also contact vendors for replacement components and may drive a maintenance vehicle to pick up parts. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Requirements

  • Strong machine electrical background
  • I/O knowledge (hardwired/discrete, digital/ethernet, and analog)
  • Ability to read electrical schematics
  • Computer skills - Windows environment, loading and setup of various software platforms desired
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems
  • Ability to read prints including mechanical and electrical prints
  • Possess excellent analytical skills, data interpretation
  • Knowledge of safety practices such as MSHA, lockout/tagout, NFPA 70E and proper use of PPE
  • Strong communication skills
  • Four years combined schooling and industrial experience required

  • Associates degree preferred
  • Journeyman Electrician License preferred

Responsibilities

  • Installation, modification and repair of automated industrial control equipment
  • Design, plan, install and maintain industrial control equipment and instrumentation such as loop controller, variable frequency drives, solid state reduced voltage starters, level controls, ethernet motor controls centers, belt scales, and control panels
  • Troubleshoot mechanical equipment, PLC’s and ladder diagrams, AC and DC circuits, electrical sensors and switches, motor controls and safety circuits
  • Install, troubleshoot and repair electric motors and equipment (120, 240 and 480V)
  • Complete preventive maintenance tasks as scheduled and document finished work
  • Contact vendors to source replacement components for all electrical/electronic equipment
  • May drive a pick-up truck or maintenance vehicle in the plant and/or to pick up parts from local vendors
  • Other duties as assigned
