About The Position

The primary duties of this position entail qualifying as a Trade Training Instructor, and qualifying and maintaining all applicable non-nuclear OSE qualifications. This role involves onboarding new hire electricians and instructing multiple Electrical Trade courses in a classroom setting, covering topics such as Electrostatic Discharge and F-18 Non-Shipboard Electrical. Additionally, the instructor will teach General Trades classroom courses including Fall Protection, Fire Watch, Respirator, and Tank Watch. Key responsibilities include enforcing safety rules and regulations, supporting lesson plan updates, assessing student performance, identifying noncompliance, and supporting special training projects. The role also requires deck plate observations and recommending improvements in safety, quality, cost, schedule, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Must have background with OSE, NTO-E or STO-E test electrician. Previous work experience may be accepted in lieu of an electric boat electrician qualification
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, be able to speak in front of large groups of people.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to embrace change and new ideas.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Maintain a strong work ethic.
  • Be a dedicated team player.
  • Must have a strong history of procedural compliance and safe work practices.
  • Must be comfortable speaking in front of a large groups and be able to maintain control of a classroom.

  • Must be comfortable evaluating student progress.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior classroom/OTJ or ALC Instructor experience
  • Certificate, Associates or advanced degree
  • Experience in preparation of training materials
  • Experience with classroom lectures, hands-on training and associated written and practical exams

Responsibilities

  • Qualify as a Trade Training Instructor.

  • Being available for overtime as needed.
  • Being flexible to support training on all shifts as needed.
