By joining Algonquin, you’ll be part of a team that is shaping the future of energy and water, while creating long-term value for our customers, communities, employees, and shareholders.PurposeThe Water Utility Electrician performs skilled electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair work at all wastewater treatment plants, water well sites, and wastewater lift stations.  This position ensures compliance with Arizona state regulations, safety standards, and operational requirements for water and wastewater facilities. Accountabilities

Requirements

  • High school
  • 4+ years experience required
  • Completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship or technical program preferred; 480 volts and above experience required.
  • Requires Valid Arizona Electrical Contractor License C-11 (Commercial/Industrial experience 480-600v required)

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and repair electrical systems including motors, pumps, control panels, and wiring at water and wastewater facilities.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Inspect and test electrical components to ensure compliance with Nation Electrical Code (NEC) and Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health (ADOSH) standards.
  • Work with MCC (Motor Control Center) panels, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and SCADA systems. Perform preventive maintenance on electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints and technical manuals.
  • Ensure compliance with Arizona Administrative Code Title 18, Chapter 9 for water and wastewater systems.
  • Implement Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and other OSHA-compliant safety practices for electrical work in hazardous environments.
  • Respond to emergency calls for electrical failures at water wells or lift stations. Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and system status.
