About The Position
This is a maintenance position with no per diem. The Electrician I will install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, conduit, equipment, and fixtures. This role involves performing work underground and above ground, including cable and conduit installations. The Electrician I will also perform electrical maintenance repairs in an industrial setting and lead lesser skilled electricians to ensure a safe work environment.
Requirements
- Must possess a TDLR Journeyman License, or TDLR Masters License, or NCCER Certified Plus Industrial Electrician or completed the ZCAP Journeyman Electrician Qualification program
- Must be able to read and interpret prints, drawings, schematics and plans
- Thorough knowledge of Electrician hand, power tools and layout tools
- Must have required tools
- Must be able to work at heights of 300 ft.
- Must be able to meet the physical demands and pre-employment conditions
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to work 7 days a week
- Use of mathematics to validate operation and installation methods per NEC 2014 standards

Responsibilities
- Responsible for complying with all Zachry and site specific safety rules with over sight of co-workers to ensure compliance
- Responsible for following direction from a Multi-Craft Electrician, General Foreman, Craft Superintendent, Site Superintendent and or Project Manager
- Responsible for complying with the Lock, Tag and Try work procedure; this standard applies to the Sweeny Refinery, associated facilities, and outlying terminals. Will have over sight of co-workers within your area of responsibility to ensure compliance
- Responsible for inspecting all designated work areas for hazards
- Participate in and complete the Zachry Craft Advancement Program (ZCAP) for Electricians per Site established guidelines.
- Responsible for performing detailed inspections on hand and power tools to ensure they are safe to operate and in proper working order
- Responsible for the safe use of hand and power tools such as conduit benders, screwdrivers, pliers, knives, hacksaws, wire strippers and drills with over sight of co-workers to ensure compliance
- Responsible for examining blue prints, sketches, diagrams, building plans and specifications to determine locations of circuits, outlets, load centers, panel boards, wires, conduit, components and other equipment
- Responsible for carrying, cutting, bending, connecting and installing conduit as defined in NFPA 70 (NEC 2014) with over sight of co-workers to ensure compliance
- Responsible for pulling cables and conductors through specified pathways as defined in NFPA 70 (NEC 2014) with over sight of co-workers to ensure compliance
- Responsible for the modification, fabrication and installation of cable trays as required and as defined in NFPA 70 (NEC 2014) with over sight of co-workers to ensure compliance
- Responsible for the safe operation of testing equipment to validate connections and ensure capability of circuits using such tools as clamp meters, ohmmeters, voltmeters and harmonics testers with over sight of co-workers to ensure compliance
- Responsible for the inspection and testing of all electrical equipment to ensure safe operation and to certify it is operating as intended with over sight of co-workers to ensure compliance
- Responsible for the safe installation and maintenance of temporary power systems and their distribution system as defined in NFPA 70 (NEC 2014) with direct over sight of co-workers to ensure compliance
- Responsible for the installation and maintenance of the assured equipment grounding / bonding on equipment and facilities with over sight of co-workers to ensure compliance
- Responsible for terminating wire/cable to electrical equipment such as but not limited to outlets, switches, breakers, control panels, and distributions systems with over sight of co-workers to ensure compliance
- Responsible for observing all state and local building / electrical codes
- Responsible for leading the Safety Task Assessment (STA) meetings
- Performs other duties as required
