About The Position

This role involves the construction, installation, testing, and repair of electrical and electronic equipment in accordance with electrical codes. The Electrician I will interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and electrical circuits, and perform regular inspections and maintenance on electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment. Responsibilities include operating various tools, lubricating and painting equipment, making hook-ups, and assisting other department members. The position also requires completing reports, forecasting potential electrical issues for preventive maintenance, and working with outside service engineers when necessary. Additionally, the role involves reporting equipment deficiencies, assisting with loading/unloading transportation vehicles, and obtaining necessary parts and materials.

Requirements

  • Punctuality and consistent attendance required.
  • Perform work in a safe manner, observing all safety rules and regulations pertaining to the job or work area.
  • Must be able to think quickly and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Must be able to inspect, test, dismantle, troubleshoot, and make electrical repairs to all types of electrical and electronic equipment including using computers to diagnose problems and make repairs.
  • Must have the ability to interpret drawings and sketches.
  • Ability to drive company truck (possible manual transmission).
  • Must have the ability to drive the forklift and cranes as needed.
  • No employee shall pose a direct threat to self or others.
  • High school diploma or GED certification.
  • Maintain a Journeyman card in compliance with state and local laws.
  • Must be able to communicate using both written and verbal communication skills, read and speak English.
  • Ability to wear a respirator.

Responsibilities

  • Construct, install, and test electrical and electronic equipment in accordance with electrical codes.
  • Dismantle, adjust, regulate, and repair electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, layout conduit runs, and wiring circuits.
  • Inspect electrical, electronic, and related mechanical equipment to determine condition and make repairs.
  • Operate grinders and portable power tools; use hand tools and may operate machine tools.
  • Lubricate electrical equipment and paint such equipment as required.
  • Maintain electrical and electronic equipment assigned.
  • Make control and panel board hook-ups.
  • Dismantle, clean, repair, and reassemble motors.
  • Assist other members of the department as required.
  • Operate all equipment when needed for maintenance purposes during shift hours.
  • Complete required reports.
  • Forecast future electrical and/or electronic problems and deter them through a preventive maintenance program.
  • Work with outside service engineers as required.
  • Report all equipment deficiencies or malfunctions for maintenance or repair to proper supervision.
  • Help load and unload transportation vehicles delivering or picking up parts or material pertinent to maintaining plant equipment or property.
  • Obtain parts, tools, and materials from Storeroom and other sources of supply.
  • Perform related duties as directed by supervision.
