About The Position

Long Prairie Packing Company LLC, an American Foods Group Company has an opportunity for Electrician I. This role involves the installation, inspection, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures according to job specifications and electrical codes. The Electrician I will diagnose and correct malfunctioning systems, maintain electrical control and industrial automation systems, and perform preventative maintenance. This position requires adherence to all safety and lock out tag out procedures, and may involve working from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs. The Electrician I will also advise management on potential hazards and train employees as needed. This description is not intended to be all-inclusive, and employees may perform other related duties.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • State Electrician License.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of work temperatures warm, hot, humid, cold, wet or with slippery surfaces at varied heights in and around moving equipment and parts with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work extended scheduled hours Monday through Saturday with daily overtime. Must be able to work overtime as required. Start times and hours vary based on production needs.
  • Must be able to successfully complete training: Safety, Safe Quality Food (SQF), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Food defense, Lock out/Tag out, OSHA 10-hour, First aid, Forklift, Genie lift.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior lead or management experience.
  • Diploma or GED.
  • College education.
  • Prior maintenance experience in a USDA inspected beef, pork or poultry facility.
  • Prior production experience.
  • Work history in the last 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and electrical codes, and then carry out plan; ensure all safety and lock out tag out procedures are followed if applicable.
  • Inspect and repair electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, to ensure compliance with electrical codes; ensure all safety and lock out tag out procedures are followed if applicable.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem; ensure all safety and lock out tag out procedures are followed if applicable.
  • Install or maintain electrical control systems, industrial automation systems, or electrical equipment, including control circuits, variable speed drives, or programmable logic controllers; ensure all safety and lock out tag out procedures are followed if applicable.
  • Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or ammeters, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Modify, maintain, or repair electrical, electronic, equipment, or systems to ensure proper functioning; ensure all safety and lock out tag out procedures followed if applicable.
  • Perform all electrical preventative maintenance and visual inspection for damage on equipment in applicable areas; ensure all safety and lock out tag out procedures are followed if applicable.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment or fixtures.
  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
  • Train employees as needed.
