About The Position

The Electrician - Pit and Shop, responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems on large-scale surface mining equipment, including electric shovels, drills, and support equipment. This role is critical to ensuring safe, reliable operation of high-voltage systems in an open pit mining environment while maintaining strict compliance with MSHA regulations.

Requirements

  • High-voltage distribution systems
  • AC/DC motors and control systems
  • PLC troubleshooting and electrical schematics
  • DC drives and/or AC VFD systems
  • Ground fault systems and protection relays
  • Proficient in use of Multimeter, megger, amp clamp, and diagnostic tools
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3–7 years of heavy industrial or mining electrical experience

  • OEM-specific training (e.g., dragline or shovel systems)

  • Examine drawings or specifications to determine work methods, sequence of activities or manufacture of components
  • Diagnose faults or breakdowns
  • Estimate time and materials required to complete jobs
  • Raise orders for materials
  • Undertake repairs or component changeouts as required
  • Clean and maintain tools and work area
  • Train other personnel or apprentices (if required)
  • Ensure activities comply with safety, environmental and statutory requirements
  • Other duties as assigned by the company
