About The Position

JLL is seeking a High Voltage Electrician to maintain critical electrical infrastructure for client facilities. This role involves operating and maintaining electrical distribution systems up to 13,800 volts and emergency generation equipment (30KW to 2MW). Responsibilities include diagnostic testing, predictive analysis, and precise switching operations. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED).
  • Comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience with electrical hand tools and diagnostic test equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret building layouts, electrical system drawings, and manufacturers' equipment specifications.
  • Working knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and NFPA 70E electrical safety standards.
  • Capability to read and comprehend technical instructions, correspondence, memos, and safety documentation.
  • Ability to write clear and accurate correspondence and maintenance documentation.
  • Willingness to participate in 24-hour on-call rotation and work flexible hours including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Capacity to work in environments with exposure to high voltage equipment, moving mechanical parts, elevated locations, outdoor weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree in Electrical Technology or completion of accredited Electrical Trade School program.
  • Five or more years of experience as an electrician in industrial or commercial environments working with voltages greater than 600V AC.
  • Five or more years of experience operating and maintaining generation systems of at least 500 KW capacity.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise contractor work and coordinate with external vendors on complex electrical projects.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain electrical equipment and distribution systems up to 13,800 volts, ensuring safe and reliable power delivery.
  • Write and perform switching operations for high voltage electrical distribution equipment following established protocols and safety procedures.
  • Conduct diagnostic testing on electrical distribution equipment including voltage, current, resistance, transients, harmonics, phase rotation, insulation, hot stick testing, phasing, PI index, and TTR measurements.
  • Perform predictive analysis using infrared thermography, ultrasonic detection, and partial discharge test equipment to identify potential issues before they become critical failures.
  • Execute assigned preventive maintenance tasks and perform repairs, minor installations, and routine service work on electrical systems.
  • Inspect all electrical installations to ensure compliance with NEC codes and client specifications, maintaining documentation of findings.
  • Operate and maintain emergency generation systems, conducting regular testing and maintenance to ensure readiness during power outages.
  • Troubleshoot overhead doors, hydraulic lifts, and elevators, coordinating with vendors for major repairs as needed.
  • Provide technical assistance to engineers by obtaining and analyzing data or supporting other specialized tasks as required.
  • Collaborate with engineers and support low voltage electricians on complex tasks.
  • Occasionally supervise contractor work.
  • Maintain the highest safety standards.
