About The Position

The Electrical Helper will assist the electrician in the assembly, installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. Assist in the diagnosis of malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and assist in correcting the problem. This is accomplished by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Must be legally authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States. Austin Industrial is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position.
No minimum education requirements.
Must pass drug screen, as condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

6 months of experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

Measure and bend conduit.
Gather tools and supplies to be used at the work site according to the instructions of the senior electrician.
Take measurements and cut wire using a ruler and hand tools.
Drill holes for wiring, using power drill and pull or push wiring through opening.
Trace out short circuits in wiring, using knowledge of wiring and test meter.
Assist in lifting, positioning or fastening objects such as wiring, conduit, and motors.
Perform minor repairs, such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs and switches.
May disassemble defective electrical equipment, replace worn or defective parts and reassemble equipment.
Perform work wearing personnel protective equipment. Including but not limited to the following: rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying respirators, safety harness, sand blast hoods, fire resistant coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs and safety glasses.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body, able to reach overhead, able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; work at heights; balance for extended periods of time.
