About The Position

The Electrician Helper assists electricians with electrical installation and related tasks in an industrial construction environment. The role involves handling wiring, conduit, cables, lighting fixtures, power equipment, and control and distribution apparatus; testing installations; and maintaining tools and a safe work area. The position requires safely using hand and power tools, working around hazardous wiring, traversing uneven terrain with tools and materials, and climbing ladders to work above ground as necessary. Typically, a minimum of six months of industrial construction experience is required.

Ability to safely traverse uneven terrain while carrying tools and building materials.
Ability to climb vertical ladders and work above ground as necessary.
Ability to safely and dexterously use hand tools and operate power tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

Communicate with electricians and others to perform job tasks.
Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit using rulers, hand tools, and power tools.
Splice wires using hand tools, soldering equipment, tape, or terminal gaps.
Connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment using hand tools.
Install control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels.
Unwind and pull cable.
Connect power cable to equipment using hand tools.
Test installed equipment for safety and electrical compatibility.
Disassemble defective electrical equipment.
Unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
Assist with lifting, positioning, and securing materials and work pieces during installation as needed.
Clean tools and equipment and perform minor maintenance activities.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Safely use hand tools and operate power tools and equipment.
Adhere to all safety procedures.
