Electrician Helper
About The Position
This role involves assisting electricians in various tasks related to electrical installations and maintenance. The helper will work with hazardous wiring, measure, cut, and install electrical conduit, splice wires, and connect wiring to fixtures and equipment. Responsibilities also include testing installed equipment, disassembling defective units, unloading materials, and performing minor maintenance on tools and equipment. The position requires the ability to work in a safe and clean environment, traverse uneven terrain, climb ladders, and work above ground. Safe operation of hand and power tools is essential, along with strict adherence to all safety procedures.
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 months industrial construction experience.
- Ability to safely traverse uneven terrain with tools and building materials.
- Ability to climb vertical ladders and work above ground as necessary.
- Safe dexterous use of hand tools.
- Safely operates power tools and equipment.
- Adherence to all safety procedures.
Responsibilities
- Communicates with Electricians and others to perform job tasks.
- Works around hazardous wiring.
- Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit using rulers, hand tools, power tools.
- Splices wires using hand tools, soldering equipment, tape or terminal gaps.
- Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment using hand tools.
- Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels.
- Unwinds and pulls cable.
- Connects power cable to equipment using hand tools.
- Tests the installed equipment for safety and electrical compatibility.
- Disassembles defective electrical equipment.
- Unloads materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
- May assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.
- Cleans and performs minor maintenance activities on tools and equipment.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
- Must be able to safely traverse uneven terrain with tools and building materials.
- Must be able to climb vertical ladders and work above ground as necessary.
- Performs a variety of tasks involving safe dexterous use of hand tools.
- Safely operates power tools and equipment.
- Adheres to all safety procedures.
