About The Position

The Electrician Helper assists electricians with electrical installation and related construction tasks. The role involves working around hazardous wiring, handling materials and equipment, and using hand and power tools to install, connect, test, and disassemble electrical components. The helper also maintains tools and a clean, safe work environment and follows all safety procedures. The position typically requires a minimum of six months of industrial construction experience.

Must be able to safely traverse uneven terrain with tools and building materials.
Must be able to climb vertical ladders and work above ground as necessary.
Must safely use hand tools and operate power tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

Communicates with electricians and others to perform job tasks.
Works around hazardous wiring.
Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit using rulers, hand tools, and power tools.
Splices wires using hand tools, soldering equipment, tape, or terminal gaps.
Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment using hand tools.
Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels.
Unwinds and pulls cable.
Connects power cable to equipment using hand tools.
Tests installed equipment for safety and electrical compatibility.
Disassembles defective electrical equipment.
Unloads materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
May assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and work pieces during installation.
Cleans and performs minor maintenance activities on tools and equipment.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
Performs tasks involving safe, dexterous use of hand tools.
Safely operates power tools and equipment.
Adheres to all safety procedures.
