Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments. This role involves visually inspecting and testing machinery, listening for unusual sounds to detect malfunctions, and discussing operations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems. The position requires dismantling defective machines, installing new or repaired parts, and cleaning and lubricating machinery components. Additionally, it involves installing and repairing electrical apparatus such as transformers and wiring, as well as electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment. The role also includes laying out, assembling, installing, and maintaining pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairing/replacing gauges, valves, and pressure regulators. Repairing and maintaining the physical structure of the establishment, and installing, programming, or repairing automated machinery and equipment like robots or programmable controllers are also key duties. The position requires operating machine tools such as lathes, grinders, drills, and milling machines to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools, as well as operating cutting torch or welding equipment to join metal parts.
