Electrician-Apprentice
About The Position
In a training capacity and under the guidance of an OJT monitor/mentor, the Electrician Apprentice will inspect, isolate, troubleshoot, and repair electrical malfunctions and equipment using various test instruments. This role involves maintaining and repairing electrical systems, testing electrical equipment for safety and efficiency, fabricating electrical parts, and participating in the maintenance and operation of electrical tools and equipment. The apprentice will troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including motors, controls, scales, and other electric equipment. They will test and monitor electrical systems, equipment, and components to locate and correct problems, and ensure the proper function of electrical safety devices. The role also includes installing, troubleshooting, and repairing new equipment and systems, learning NEC requirements, and maintaining appropriate service and repair records. The apprentice will respond safely to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service, and follow blueprints to determine wiring locations and ensure compliance with building and safety codes. Other duties may be assigned by management.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED equivalency
- Must complete and successfully pass basic skills aptitude testing
- Must participate and complete the 4-year company provided Penn Foster Apprenticeship Program
- Upon contingent offer of employment, must complete and successfully pass all pre-employment requirements (background check, physical, and drug screen)
- Basic technical and electrical knowledge
- Basic computer and MS office suite software knowledge
- Demonstrable teamwork and maturity with a strong work ethic
- Fluency in spoken and written English
Responsibilities
- Inspect, isolate, troubleshoot, and repair electrical malfunctions and equipment using various test instruments.
- Maintain and repair electrical systems.
- Test electrical equipment for safety and efficiency.
- Fabricate electrical parts.
- Participate in the maintenance and operation of electrical tools and equipment.
- Troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical systems including electric motors, electric controls, scales, and other electric equipment.
- Test & monitor electrical systems, equipment, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Ensures the proper function of electrical safety devices.
- Installs, troubleshoots and repairs new equipment and systems.
- Learns requirements for adherence to the NEC requirements.
- Maintains appropriate service and repair records.
- Analyzes and responds safely and appropriately to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service.
- Follows blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to conform to the building and safety codes.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by management.
