About The Position

The Apprentice Electrician / Fire Alarm Technician works under the direction of Journeyman Electricians and is responsible for supporting the installation, start-up, troubleshooting, commissioning, and servicing of industrial and commercial electrical systems, as well as fire alarm and critical life safety systems. This role requires hands-on experience in both electrical work and fire alarm system installation and maintenance, with the ability to follow technical instructions, engineering drawings, and local codes.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems in commercial and industrial settings or directly related experience
  • Solid understanding of fire alarm codes, standards, and regulations, including NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code) and relevant building and fire codes.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals for fire alarm equipment
  • 1–4 years of electrical experience.
  • Strong understanding of the importance of quality.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others to promote efficiency
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
  • Strong understanding of the importance of quality work
  • Detail-oriented with strong communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • NICET Certifications strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Observe, learn, and understand a wide range of skills and processes under the instruction of a skilled electrician.
  • Demonstrate these skills and processes as on-the-job training progresses by working independently or with others to complete assigned tasks.
  • Learn and understand the importance of safety within the workspace and across projects.
  • Learn about the various tools and materials required for electricians to complete tasks and projects.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and organization in the work area.
  • Properly utilize the required tools and equipment for each specific task.
  • Documentation, panel programming, and as-built updates
  • Inspection, testing, and service of existing systems
  • Installation of fire alarm systems — addressable and conventional
