In a training capacity and under the guidance of an OJT monitor/mentor, this role involves inspecting, isolating, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical malfunctions and equipment. The apprentice will maintain and repair electrical systems, test electrical equipment for safety and efficiency, fabricate electrical parts, and participate in the maintenance and operation of electrical tools and equipment. This includes troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems such as electric motors, electric controls, and scales. The apprentice will also test and monitor electrical systems and components, ensure the proper function of electrical safety devices, and install, troubleshoot, and repair new equipment and systems, learning NEC requirements. Responsibilities also include maintaining service and repair records (necessary for MSHA), responding safely to routine and emergency calls, and following blueprints to determine wiring and equipment locations while adhering to building and safety codes. Other duties as assigned by management may also be part of the role.
