About The Position

This position is represented as part of a collective bargaining agreement unit. The Electrician 1st Class is expected to have comprehensive knowledge of all standard and special electrical equipment used in the plant, or possess extensive background in a specialized skill such as motor winding or armature. The role involves performing installation, repair, testing, and troubleshooting of various electrical equipment, including transformers, motors, switchgear, relay systems, control systems, Plant Communication, and Emergency Systems, under general supervision. The work demands complete knowledge of AC transformers, controls, and motors, and the ability to execute tasks with detailed or sparse instructions, requiring little direct supervision. The individual is responsible for ensuring all work adheres to specifications and plant procedures, and that the safety of personnel, equipment, and the power system is maintained. Additionally, other duties incidental to the work may be assigned by supervision.

Requirements

  • Must know all types of electrical equipment, standard and special, as used in the plant.
  • Must have extensive background in one special skill (Motor winding, armature, etc.).
  • Required to perform work which requires complete knowledge of AC transformers, controls, and motors.
  • Must be capable to work with detailed or sparse instructions with little or direct supervision.
  • Must be able to wear Company provided respiratory and other personal protective equipment when required.
  • Must be able to do balancing, bending, crawling, crouching, climbing, pushing, pulling, raising both arms above shoulder, use of both hands, kneeling, reaching, sitting/standing/walking, working at high speed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50#.
  • Must be able to work in an environment that may be wet/ noisy/ humid/ dry/ dusty/ hot or have sudden temperature changes and with conditions that may include, but not limited to, exposure to burns, acids, solvents, radioactive material, confined space, high places, mechanical hazards, moving objects, inside/outside work, vibrations, and oil/greases.
  • Pre-Employment Physical (office or field work).
  • Drug Screen.
  • The ability to obtain/maintain "L" or "Q" Clearance one year from hire date.
  • Background Check.
  • Any site required training.
  • Submit a current resume.
  • Be available to start work with Southern Ohio Cleanup Company, LLC within a reasonable time frame after acceptance of SOCCo’s offer of employment (typically 30 days or less).

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, repair, tests, and troubleshooting on electrical equipment such as transformers, motors, switchgear, relay systems, control systems, Plant Communication and Emergency Systems.
  • Perform work to specifications and in accordance with plant procedures.
  • Ensure that no personnel, equipment, or the power system are endangered or disturbed.
  • Perform other duties incidental to the work as may be assigned by supervision.
