About The Position

The Electrical Trainee participates in an intensive workforce development training program designed to prepare individuals for entry-level marine electrician. Electrical Trainees receive classroom instruction and hands-on laboratory training as well as practical experience in electrical theory, safety practices, blueprint reading, tool usage, cable installation and basic electrical systems commonly used in marine construction.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read, write and understand basic English.
  • Basic math skills, including measurement and fractions.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Willingness to learn new technical skills.
  • Ability to work safely in an industrial environment.
  • Effective communication skills, including ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical Apprenticeship, Trade School, Military Electrical Program, or equivalent preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Attend all scheduled classroom instruction, laboratory exercises, and hands-on electrical training.
  • Follow all OSHA, company and shipyard safety procedures.
  • Learn basic electrical theory and terminology.
  • Identify and safely use electrical hand tools, power tools and testing equipment.
  • Read and interpret basic electrical drawings, schematics and blueprints.
  • Assist with cable pulling, cable routing, and cable termination.
  • Learn conduit installation and wire management techniques.
  • Practice proper installation methods for shipboard electrical systems.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Work effectively as part of a team.
  • Accept coaching and constructive feedback from instructors and supervision.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, dependability and a positive attitude.
  • Successfully complete required written exams, practical evaluations and safety assessments.
