About The Position

Position Description Facilities Management is entrusted with the development, care, maintenance, and operation of Colorado State University’s physical properties. Our purpose is to create and sustain environments that support CSU’s land-grant mission, fostering the success of students, faculty, and staff through world-class academic, research, and outreach programs. This role maintains, installs, and repairs campus secondary electrical systems, outside lighting, and high-voltage underground distribution networks. The position requires on-the-spot decision-making for campus safety, emergency power outages, and strict code compliance while minimizing budget impacts. Additionally, the technician coordinates with other campus departments to manage electrical designs, calculations, and scheduled system upgrades.

Requirements

  • Current, valid licensure as a journeyman electrician from the Colorado Electrical Board
  • Pre-employment Criminal and Motor vehicle Background Check (required for new hires)

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical troubleshooting skills 13.2KV and less.
  • Experience with advanced lighting controls and motor controls.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft teams, mail, excel)
  • Written and verbal technical communication skills
  • Ability to work independently on complex electrical jobs
  • Knowledge of the NFPA70 and NFPA70E.
  • Directly related state Service

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and repairs secondary electrical circuits, systems and equipment in campus facilities under the responsibilities of CSU Facilities.
  • Performs work on the campus outside lighting systems and their components which includes new installations, alterations. maintenance and additional work to keep electrical systems operating properly.
  • Installs and remodels existing campus electrical equipment and systems upon request from external departments. Provides detailed estimates prior to work being approved.
  • Ability to be trained and certified on 13.2kv underground distribution systems and related equipment which includes new installations, alterations, maintenance and work necessary to keep systems operating properly.
  • Reviews drawings, update inventory on parts and equipment, provides support in design and construction projects and outages.
