This position involves troubleshooting, testing, and inspecting electrical apparatus, often performing as a lead person on projects. The role requires technical supervision and entails performing all aspects of testing and maintenance of electrical power distribution systems. Responsibilities include troubleshooting capabilities, simple relay calibration, use of load recording instrumentation, and low and medium voltage switchgear testing up to the 15 kV class. The technician will test and troubleshoot moderately complex electrical systems, simple relay systems, and power metering. There is also an opportunity to perform simple power system studies, such as short circuit and protective device coordination. The role requires writing detailed reports promptly at the end of each project, accurately processing job billing, and potentially performing complex analysis for equipment labeling projects. A key aspect of the role involves taking an active part in business development, including preparing job proposals with estimates for man-hours, expenses, scope, and pricing.
