About The Position

Gettle Incorporated is seeking an experienced Electrician with the desire to learn and grow into our Preventative Maintenance group as an Electrical Test Technician. This position is for an Electrician that has an understanding of the commercial and industrial electrical field and the ability to adapt and learn the use of various test equipment. The Electrical Test Technician will learn the use of various test equipment for the purposes of testing transformers, low and medium voltage switchgear, low and medium voltage circuit breakers, low and medium voltage cables, and other such electrical system components.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in the electrical industry.
  • Be able to adapt to ever changing work responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry is a plus.
  • Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
  • Current MSHA certification.
  • Must be able to work in atmospheric conditions such as extreme cold, heat, humidity, and other various weather conditions.
  • Employee may be exposed to moderate noise levels.
  • Work from various heights via platforms, scaffolds, ladders, or man-lifts.
  • Must be able to navigate construction sites consisting of uneven terrain, climbing stairs and ladders, and working at heights.
  • Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, and balance.
  • The ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to lift objects up to 80 pounds.
  • Must be able to push and pull up to 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Able to show up on time, work a minimum of 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, with the notable overtime, holidays and off normal hours due to customer needs as required.
  • An eagerness to learn, be helpful and contribute in any way possible to help with preventative maintenance.
  • The ability to follow directions and work well with others.
  • Work in a professional manner at all times.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Own your own hand tools.
  • Flexibility to work on construction projects as may be required.
  • Have the ability to navigate and understand the NEC.
  • Have the ability to read and understand electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Knowledgeable in commercial and industrial environments.
  • Full understanding of the need for and importance of LOTO procedures.
  • Conduct tests and assessments of new and existing systems.
  • Proficient in the operation of meters, such as Meggers and Multi-Meters.
  • Strong aptitude for learning the use of test equipment.
  • Utilize and store all tools/equipment properly.
  • If applicable, maintain company vehicle and equipment according to company policy.
  • Proficient in the operation of equipment such as manlifts.
  • Ensure work areas are clean.
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and have the ability to communicate with coworkers and Manager about project tasks or issues.
  • Able to mentor and lead other team members.
  • Able to navigate basic computer functions.
  • Follow safety protocols according to company/customer polices, industrial regulations and OSHA/MSHA standards.
  • Overnight travel.
  • Other duties as assigned.
