About The Position

This role involves addressing complex manufacturing challenges, including root cause analysis and issue resolution. The engineer will be responsible for manufacturing process equipment, analyzing and implementing product and machinery designs for optimal manufacturing processes, and proposing/evaluating equipment processes for their assigned area. They will also be tasked with designing, developing, and improving manufacturing processes, maintaining contact with external partners, and evaluating/monitoring expenditures for processes and equipment. A key aspect of the role is interfacing with Product Engineering to ensure new products meet documented Manufacturing Requirements and developing/modifying these requirements for successful integration. Additionally, the engineer will interface with Assembly Process Engineering to integrate Testing Systems with the production line, create Statement of Requirements documents for sourcing testing systems from suppliers, conduct technical evaluations of suppliers, and collaborate with selected suppliers to design, develop, and supervise the building of testing systems, ensuring GM's technical and safety requirements are met. The role also includes coordinating machine runoff, validation, and installation at GM facilities. This position operates under a Hybrid Work Policy, requiring 3 days in-office and 2 days remote, with the ability to report to the local office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field of study
  • Five (5) years of experience as a Quality Launch Lead, Quality Group Leader, Quality Customer Satisfaction Lead, or related occupation.
  • Five (5) years of experience in Performing data analysis using Bauer and QS-STAT
  • Five (5) years of experience in Test Machine Design using Teamcenter
  • Five (5) years of experience in Project Management
  • Five (5) years of experience in AutoCAD
  • Five (5) years of experience in Test Sequencing Development
  • Five (5) years of experience in Root Cause Analysis

Responsibilities

  • Work with complex manufacturing problems including the need to root cause and follow issues to resolve.
  • Responsible for equipment related to the manufacturing process.
  • Analyze and implement product and machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing processes.
  • Propose and evaluate the processes for equipment in assigned area.
  • Design, develop, and improve manufacturing processes for assigned area.
  • Keep regular contact with partners outside the work group.
  • Evaluate and monitor expenditures for processes and equipment.
  • Interface with Product Engineering to ensure new products adhere to the documented Manufacturing Requirements.
  • Develop or modify the documented Manufacturing Requirements to ensure a successful interface with Product Engineering.
  • Interface with Assembly Process Engineering to ensure integration of the Testing Systems with the rest of the manufacturing production line.
  • Create the Statement of Requirements document to source the Testing systems to different suppliers.
  • Technical evaluation of suppliers to award the Testing Systems projects to the correct supplier.
  • With the selected supplier, design and develop an appropriate testing system, supervise the machine building, ensuring that all the GM technical and safety requirements are met.
  • Coordinate the machine Runoff including machine validation and coordinate the machine installation at the final GM facility.
