About The Position

Novelis Oswego is hiring an Electrical Technician to maintain, service, and repair facilities and equipment. The role focuses on keeping machinery and specialty equipment operating correctly by creating, maintaining, and repairing electrical and electronic components. Technicians receive training in troubleshooting, technical procedures, and safety. Successful candidates are fast learners and self-motivated, independent workers who can work under pressure and in varying conditions. The hourly rate starts at $40.50. Individual pay varies based on qualifications, experience, and performance. The position offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus.

Requirements

A two-year electrical degree or five or more years of experience.
Medical clearance for use of a fall protection harness; weight restrictions related to equipment limitations may apply.
Experience with power distribution.
Experience with industrial motor control, including A/C and D/C controls.
Experience with process control and instrumentation.
Experience with combustion control systems.
Computer skills and experience with computer-operated control systems.
Experience with ladder logic.

Responsibilities

Use specialized measuring and diagnostic devices to evaluate equipment.
Inspect equipment for problems.
Work with wires using hand tools while handling small components.
Repair and replace defective components in motors, generators, controllers, storage batteries, switchboards, conductors, switches, and varied electrical fixtures.
Install, maintain, and repair electrical, electromechanical, and electronic parts of machinery and equipment.
Perform defensive repair and preservation of field, plant, and shop electronic and electrical systems, equipment, and devices.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Plan and prepare work orders or instructions using blueprints, sketches, and drawings.
