About The Position

Havoc is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their Hardware Engineering team. This role involves designing, specifying, integrating, and testing electrical systems for uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) and other unmanned platforms. The engineer will be responsible for components and subsystems including power conversion, energy storage, RF and communications, signal distribution, and overall electrical architecture. The ideal candidate will have experience taking electrical hardware from concept through design, assembly, integration, and testing, and will collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to deliver reliable solutions for maritime environments.

Requirements

5+ years of electrical engineering experience focused on system design, integration, and testing
Strong background in power electronics, power conversion, and electrical subsystem integration
Experience with RF and communications systems, including antennas, radios, GPS, and digital communication links
Able to create, read, and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness documentation
Hands-on experience with prototype builds, electrical assembly, test equipment, and troubleshooting
Strong understanding of electrical components, grounding, EMI/EMC, and marine or ruggedized design
Experience integrating electrical subsystems into complex platforms such as unmanned vehicles
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a Secret security clearance
Able to work onsite at our North Kingstown, RI and Rumford, RI offices at least 3 days per week
Able to travel up to 4 weeks per year

Nice To Haves

Experience with uncrewed systems, especially maritime platforms (USVs, UUVs, UAVs or UGVs)
Familiarity with harness design, ECAD or PLM tools such as SolidWorks Electrical, Altium, Zuken or Arena
Knowledge of embedded systems packaging, grounding, shielding, and thermal and electrical tradeoffs
Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) for ruggedized, outdoor, or marine environments
Strong analytical, diagnostic, and root cause analysis skills

Responsibilities

Design, specify, and integrate electrical subsystems, including power converters, radios, compute, harnesses, circuit protection, batteries, actuators, and antennas.
Develop system-level architectures for USVs, including power trees, grounding schemes, communications pathways, and redundancy.
Evaluate electrical loads, routing, and environmental requirements to support vessel capabilities and mission payloads.
Produce wiring schematics, harness drawings, connector specifications, and interface definitions.
Oversee harness fabrication and verify assembly quality, routing, strain relief, and suitability for marine environments.
Lead subsystem bring-up, bench testing, environmental validation, and vehicle-level integration.
Verify RF performance, signal integrity, interference mitigation, and link reliability on the bench and on the vehicle.
Diagnose issues with power systems, EMI/EMC, communication links, sensors, and embedded electronics.
Support field testing, including hands-on troubleshooting during sea trials.
Work with mechanical engineers on enclosure design, thermal considerations, EMC shielding, and component packaging.
Partner with software and systems engineers to ensure electrical interfaces are robust, deterministic, and well documented.
Create and maintain electrical schematics, block diagrams, interface control documents (ICDs), test reports, and configuration records.
Support design reviews and engineering change processes.
Partner with technicians and manufacturing teams to ensure electrical designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and suited to rugged marine environments.
Help develop test procedures, build instructions, and QA processes for electrical subsystems.
