About The Position

The Electrical Technician A performs all assigned duties within the maintenance area of responsibility. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, troubleshooting capabilities, and adherence to safety protocols. The technician will be responsible for maintaining and repairing various plant equipment, ensuring efficient and safe operations.

Requirements

• Previous electrical experience required – Min 3 years.
• Previous maintenance experience required.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Willingness to work outside the regular schedule as required.
• Willingness to handle job stress and interact with others in the workplace.
• Complete understanding of the plant and department safety rules.
• Ability to receive constructive suggestions.
• Must have and properly select tools required for task being performed.
• Must know about resin systems.
• Must know how to download and reload computers.
• Must be able to repair faulty wiring.
• Must know all wire sizes and voltage and amp ratings.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma/GED is preferred.
• Vocational education desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform all duties assigned within the maintenance area of responsibility.
• Maintain regular, reliable attendance and work outside regular schedule as required.

• Possess a complete understanding of plant and department safety rules.
• Ensure assigned area is kept clean and practice good housekeeping.

• Work and cooperate with other departments within the plant.
• Attend scheduled department safety and training meetings.
• Receive constructive suggestions.
• Troubleshoot equipment, including FMC bag machine and winder, Kiefel extruder and winder, Amplast unwinder, and Ktron resin system.
• Comply with all written and verbal safety rules using personal protective equipment as required.
• Plan and carry out tasks to accepted national and local standards and codes.
• Identify and correct problems in production equipment, material handling equipment, etc., in a timely manner and within accepted codes.
• Coordinate and lead small work groups to complete assigned tasks.
• Check voltage with a volt meter.
• Install bearings and seals in electrical motors of all sizes.
• Replace electrical motors (AC and DC).
• Perform Preventive Maintenance (PMs) on electrical equipment.
• Troubleshoot and replace heater bands.
• Replace and repair heat controls.
• Troubleshoot relays, starters, and circuit breakers and replace when needed.
• Bend rigid or EMT pipe.
• Check and replace fuses.
• Read dial and venire calipers.
• Read metric and standard measurements.
• Check and repair or replace thermocouples when necessary.
• Understand resin systems.
• Download and reload computers.
• Repair faulty wiring.
• Identify and understand the function of equipment.
• Provide timely preventive maintenance support and record all test data.
• Properly fill out necessary paperwork associated with work orders, historical files, time cards, and issue tickets.
• Select and use appropriate tools for the task being performed.
• Disassemble equipment, make necessary repairs, and restore to normal operations.
• Train other personnel effectively.
• Plan and achieve job tasks in a timely manner.
• Seek methods to improve department efficiency.
• Be available for overtime, call-ins, and rotating schedules.
• Willingness to learn and upgrade skill level.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Provide timely preventive maintenance support, coordinating with production personnel.
• Maintain good housekeeping in assigned and work areas.
• Make any mechanical repairs on equipment as necessary.
• Check amperes with an amprobe.
• Read electrical and construction schematics pertaining to electrical systems.
• Understand electrical diagrams.
• Troubleshoot electrical motors.
• Check out and troubleshoot DC drives.
• Troubleshoot relays, starters, circuit breakers and replace when needed.
• Troubleshoot and repair solid-state circuitry.
• Install starters, wiring, etc., in panels.
• Know all wire sizes and voltage and amp ratings.
