About The Position

George-McKenna Electric (GME) is an Electrical, Security, and Structured Cabling Contractor capable of providing design-build and installation of turnkey systems in commercial applications. This position is for an Electrical Technician 2 who will install electrical systems in new construction, upfit, and remodel projects. The role requires minimal oversight and guidance, working directly under a crew leader or foreman.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience completing project installation of electrical systems in the commercial electrical industry.
  • Experience working in the field completing assigned tasks and functions.
  • Experience with trade inspections, dealing with various jurisdictions and inspectors.
  • Must be well organized, able to work efficiently and demonstrate good time management skills.
  • Ensure special equipment needs are communicated to the foreman.
  • Must be able to sit, bend, stoop.
  • Must be able to lift items up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb, crawl and squat as the job demands.
  • Must be able to submit to full pre-employment background and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Associated trade certifications are beneficial but are not required.

Responsibilities

  • Install electrical systems in new construction, upfit, and remodel projects.
  • Measure, bend, thread, and install electrical conduit including MC, EMT, rigid raceways, and PVC at various elevations and locations (grade level, elevated heights, ditches).
  • Set up for wire installation, pull wire, and operate wire tuggers.
  • Terminate panels, set fixtures, install devices, and install cable tray.
  • Interpret and understand job drawings to facilitate electrical system installation.
  • Establish material lists and communicate material needs to the foreman.
  • Achieve weekly benchmark objectives established by the foreman.
  • Maintain familiarity with plans, schedule, and expectations for the job.
  • Ensure safe work practices and maintain a safe work environment for all personnel.
  • Utilize all assigned PPE as appropriate for the hazards encountered.
  • Maintain a positive work environment that promotes a culture of safety and open communication.
  • Maintain a personal tool cache including hand tools, drill, drivers, and necessary attachments.
