Electrical Systems Technician

Modern Government Solutions
Onsite

About The Position

Modern Government Solutions (MGS) is seeking an Electrical Systems Technician to support the build, integration, and testing of Blue Water Instrumentation (BWI) systems at Point Mugu Sea Range. In this role, you'll take electrical designs and turn them into fully functional, field-ready systems across power, signal, RF, and data environments. You'll work hands-on in lab, workshop, and maritime test settings working hands-on with wiring, integration, troubleshooting, and real-world system deployment. This position sits at the intersection of engineering and operations, ensuring systems don't just work in theory, but perform in the field. You'll play a key role in test events, supporting setup, execution, and teardown of instrumentation systems in dynamic environments. If you're a technician who takes pride in building and fielding real systems and wants to see your work used in mission-critical applications, this role puts you at the center of it.

Requirements

  • Must possess an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in electrical assembly, wiring, cable fabrication, and system integration.
  • Proven ability to build, integrate, and troubleshoot electrical and electronic systems across power, signal, RF, and data environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Experience with electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies) for system validation and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with low- and medium-voltage systems, signal integrity, grounding, and electrical safety practices.
  • Experience supporting system installation, test events, or field operations in lab and operational environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to operate in fast-paced, iterative development and test environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting DoD test ranges, RDT&E programs, or test and evaluation (T&E) events in dynamic operational environments.
  • Background in RF systems, telemetry, communications, or data acquisition systems supporting instrumentation and sensor integration.
  • Familiarity with networking, IP-based systems, or field communications infrastructure used in test environments.
  • Experience working with ruggedized electrical systems in maritime, expeditionary, or other harsh environments.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems, microcontroller-based platforms, or integrated hardware/software systems.
  • Prior military or defense contractor experience supporting mission-driven programs.

Responsibilities

  • Build, wire, and integrate electrical and electronic systems supporting BWI prototype development across power, signal, RF, and data systems.
  • Perform cable fabrication, harnessing, and connectorization, supporting integration of power distribution, embedded electronics, sensors, and telemetry components.
  • Assist engineers with system assembly, integration, and iterative modifications to deliver field-ready capabilities.
  • Conduct testing, validation, and system checkout using standard electrical test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults, signal issues, and integration problems in both lab and field environments.
  • Support installation and integration of systems on testbeds, platforms, and range infrastructure, including basic network and communications setups.
  • Execute maintenance, repair, and calibration of electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Support test events, including setup, monitoring, teardown, and hands-on operation of fielded instrumentation systems (including occasional travel as required).
  • Maintain configuration control and documentation of electrical components, wiring, modifications, and test results.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, electrical codes, and range procedures.
  • Operate across laboratory, workshop, and maritime field environments, executing hands-on integration, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and instrumentation.
