About The Position

As an Electrical Systems Senior Principal Engineer on the Hardware Engineering Team, you will deliver enterprise-class hardware, comprising a wide range of cutting-edge technologies, to numerous product lines and thousands of customers. You will be exposed to all aspects of hardware and systems engineering, working closely with firmware, mechanical, power, and thermal engineers in a fast-paced environment. You will provide support and guidance to a team of highly skilled engineers, fostering a collaborative atmosphere within a company deeply committed to integrity and responsibility.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in hardware design, analysis, and debugging of complex printed circuit boards.
  • Understanding of the power, mechanical, and thermal infrastructure surrounding complex printed circuit boards.
  • Experience in computer architecture.
  • Experience designing with high-speed interfaces such as Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe), Double Data Rate (DDR), and Ethernet.
  • Strong background in electrical or computer engineering.
  • Solid understanding of server architecture.
  • Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Typically requires 12+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8+ years with a Master’s degree; or 3+ years with a PhD; or equivalent experience.
  • BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Author and coordinate the creation of design guides and specifications for new designs.
  • Drive architectural direction for next-generation devices/platforms.
  • Ensure feasibility of concepts for new products.
  • Work closely with Original Design Manufacturer (ODM)/Joint Design Manufacturer (JDM) partners to execute designs against specified architecture.
  • Review design and validation results from ODM/JDM partners.
  • Set standards and determine design targets for the product (cost, performance, reliability, etc.) through proper design choices, component selection, and/or supplier selection.
  • Collaborate across all disciplines (hardware, software, mechanical, manufacturing, procurement, etc.) to ensure product requirements are implemented to meet program goals.
  • Communicate requirements and provide technology updates to multiple Dell Technologies product groups and development teams.
