About The Position

This role is part of the team responsible for the electrical energy lifecycle of the motorcycle, from power storage and delivery to system reliability and safety. The Starting and Energy Management systems include all electrical and electro‑mechanical components required to start the vehicle, manage electrical loads, and ensure robust energy availability throughout operation. The successful candidate will be a technical leader who delivers innovative, production‑ready solutions to complex vehicle system challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience, with demonstrated technical depth in electrical system design.
  • Strong foundation in engineering analysis, calculations, and design tools.
  • Direct experience designing and developing vehicle electrical systems, with emphasis on starting, charging, or energy management functions.
  • Experience authoring system requirements, developing test cases, and maintaining requirements traceability, preferably within a functional safety framework (ISO 26262).
  • Proven use of Quality Engineering deliverables, including DFMEAs and Design Validation Plans and Test Reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to own technical issues end‑to‑end, from problem definition through root cause analysis and solution implementation.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical information to engineering peers, leadership, and supplier partners.
  • Effective use of project management tools and methodologies to achieve schedule and cost commitments.
  • Experience collaborating with diverse global teams and external suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of component and system requirements for starting and energy management systems through cross‑functional collaboration, benchmarking, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Own the Starting and Energy Management Functional Safety item, including development and maintenance of all associated work products in alignment with ISO 26262 processes (preferred).
  • Design and architect technical solutions that meet electrical, thermal, mechanical, and safety requirements, applying Quality Engineering methods such as DFMEA and Design Validation Plans & Test Reports (DVP&R).
  • Partner with internal manufacturing organizations and Tier 1 electrical component suppliers to implement designs and approve components for production.
  • Develop and execute system‑level verification and validation strategies to ensure robust, intuitive performance at product launch.
  • Verify component and system performance against Harley‑Davidson standards, review and approve supplier validation results, and ensure system targets are achieved or exceeded.
  • Proactively resolve technical issues using structured problem‑solving methods, facilitating cross‑functional engineering and test support as required.
  • Support pre‑production, launch builds, and vehicle testing activities, providing hands‑on engineering support through launch readiness.
  • Execute all work using sound project management principles, ensuring delivery of program milestones on time and within budget.
