About The Position

The Space Launch System (SLS) Solid Rocket Booster Office is seeking an Electrical Systems Engineer to provide systems engineering support. This role involves providing oversight for avionics systems hardware, supporting integration activities for hardware and software, performing systems analyses, and contributing to avionics hardware/software design solutions. The engineer will also provide input for flight avionics, risk management, and support various reviews, working groups, and boards, in addition to providing status updates. A key aspect of this role is developing expertise in SLS vehicle redundancy management and flight software interactions, and participating in anomaly investigations. The successful candidate will also be responsible for leading and mentoring less experienced personnel throughout the development, integration, deployment, and operation life cycles.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in electrical engineering.
  • Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D., with a minimum of 14 years of experience, master’s degree with at least 18 years of experience, or bachelor's with at least 20 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of space systems avionics and software requirements, design, trade studies, milestone reviews, interface definition, change management, risk management, and safety.
  • Ability to review avionics products and provide relevant feedback.
  • Good coordination and communication skills.
  • Pro-active, multitask and accomplish tasks with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with booster avionics desired but not required.
  • Experience with PSPICE or equivalent.

Responsibilities
