Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is seeking an Electrical Systems Engineer to join their Engineering Services Division. This role involves a variety of maintenance, operations, engineering design, construction, and modification activities on LLNL infrastructure, specifically focusing on low-voltage electrical distribution systems and emergency power generation systems. The position utilizes leading-edge principles, technologies, and best practices. The role may require work at Site 300 in Tracy, California, and offers a hybrid schedule with one day per week remote work flexibility. The engineer will collaborate with and provide technical direction to infrastructure and operations personnel, including shop/crafts personnel, on the planning, engineering, troubleshooting, maintenance, and operations of low-voltage (under 600V) building electrical distribution systems. This includes emergency and standby power systems, electrical components, and electrically operated equipment for both non-reactor nuclear facilities and conventional facilities. The position also involves serving as a Subcontract Technical Representative and/or Alternate Responsible Individual for electrical programs and subcontracts, overseeing subcontractor work, and executing electrical engineering studies such as short circuits, coordination, and arc flash hazard analysis. Root-cause analysis of equipment failures, evaluation of electrical power installations for code compliance, and delivery of innovative solutions for design projects are also key responsibilities. The engineer will prepare technical reports, conduct presentations, and review commissioning plans. Interaction with colleagues, management, and customer representatives across organizational lines is expected. The role may also include other assigned duties.
