About The Position

The Electrical System Engineer is a key person for successful, high quality design changes execution. He/She possesses technical accountability and cross-functional leadership for the electrical system of multiple wind turbine platforms. Will lead product development projects, from business requirement definition and technical trade-offs to prototype installation and serial production. The team's scope includes the overall electrical system of our wind turbine products and its components like Generators, Transformers, Power Conductors, Cable Harnesses, Converters, Electrical Switchgears & Control Cabinets etc. The broad scope of the team and the global responsibilities of this position provide great opportunity to drive engineering excellence and quality, as well as to optimize the wind turbine electrical system with respect to performance, cost and reliability. It is also critical to ensure operational excellence: track on time completion of all hardware releases as they pertain to the electrical system, visualize the challenges, risks and establish a rhythm of communication and escalation to avoid delivery falling off track; coach/lead/support technically engineers in their design challenges with interfaces with other components and within the electric-mechanical system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 5+ years proven technology and/or product management experience in low voltage/medium voltage component design or in similar position.
  • 3+ year experience in service/fleet issues resolution, root cause investigation.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).

  • Knowledge of Standards and Design Codes.
  • Skilled in electrical component design calculations, specifications and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Component and system design lifecycle leader of the sub-system
  • Full ownership and accountability for design, development, testing and certification of appointed sub-system
  • Drive should-cost assessments and support cost optimization efforts with suppliers to meet component cost targets at sub-system level
  • Communicate design details and technical recommendations to senior leadership
  • Ensure lessons learned are promptly incorporated into design
  • Perform Engineering Excellence and provide innovative design solutions to deliver world class in Safety and Quality
  • Prioritize and delegate work to a global team of design engineers and sub-contractors
  • Management of daily operations of the team: Definition of priorities, schedule, assignation of resources.
  • Work closely with customers, fleet support teams, service and systems engineering on fleet issues and improvement determinations
  • Review critical drawings, schematics and technical specification for accuracy prior to release
  • Review design reviews documents prior to CTH evaluation to ensure it is according to standards
  • Ensure quality of deliverables, on time delivery, design cost, DFMEA, performance, availability, weight and general targets defined by the business related to the sub-system.
  • Work with cross-functions (mechanics, systems, product line, sourcing) to ensure a cross-segment development of sub-system
  • Interface with test labs to drive validation strategy of sub-system requirements
  • Provide technical guidance, supporting CTH and PBM owners to define and apply design practices, standards, new methods or tools to ensure safety and quality of the product.
