About The Position

Blattner is expanding its energy construction leadership into gas power generation, offering a unique opportunity to help build this new business from the ground up. This role will contribute to shaping the processes and standards for delivering end-to-end hybrid energy solutions, backed by a company with decades of success in the energy sector.

Requirements

A 4-year degree in construction management, engineering, or related degree; OR an equivalent combination of a 2-year technical college degree with a minimum of 3 years construction supervisory experience; OR a minimum of 6 years of additional construction supervisory experience.
Five years’ experience supervising a construction crew and working in one of the following types of construction: grading, structural, electrical, and/or mechanical.
A valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
Interpersonal Skills – Ability to supervise and present to a large number of employees.
Working knowledge of equipment and their appropriate applications.
Effective Communication Skills (oral, written, listening, presentation) to effectively work with owners, vendors, employees, landowners, etc.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Project, Visio).
Excellent organizational, scheduling, planning and prioritization skills.
Accounting (math and record-keeping).
Involved with and understands all disciplines of current project task.
Must re-locate to the project site for the duration of each construction project they are assigned to.
May be required to become a qualified individual in pursuit of company contract licensing.

Responsibilities

Provides on-site supervision of Assistant Superintendents, Forepersons, and all craft personnel to ensure a safe, productive, and quality job while controlling costs within the specific construction discipline.
Schedules labor, materials, tools, equipment, and subcontractors within the work discipline to effectively utilize all resources, adhering to specifications and contract requirements.
Supervises and directs Assistant Trade Superintendents and Forepersons on-site to ensure efficient use of company resources and compliance with policies and regulations.
Provides formal quarterly coaching feedback and regular informal feedback to Forepersons and Assistant Trade Superintendents.
Ensures the development of front-line employees through onboarding, training, and mentoring.
Schedules equipment, materials, tools, and subcontractors to maximize production and minimize costs, collaborating with other projects for resource sharing.
Responsible for safe working conditions and safety procedures, enforcing company, jobsite-specific, federal, and state safety regulations.
Manages employee orientation, emphasizes special risks, cranes, lifting, DOT requirements, site conditions, telehandlers, JHAs, and assists in meeting CATS observation goals and accident/injury management.
Communicates project status and problem areas to the Site Manager.
Collaborates with Site Manager, other Trade Superintendents, General Superintendents, and other supervision to plan and staff trade employees.
Assists the Site Manager in communicating and negotiating with the owner regarding major project decisions.
Displays a professional demeanor and fosters a collaborative environment with craft, subcontractors, vendors, and the Owner.
Compares actual costs to the job estimate for the specific discipline and informs the Site Manager of cost over-runs.
Verifies that project construction activities and engineering conform to the project Quality Plan, Best Practices, and Blattner Energy Quality Systems.
Establishes, aligns, and communicates project specifications and craftsmanship expectations.
Assists in assembling close-out information for Quality, Best Practices, and Estimating meetings.
Mentors Field Construction Coordinator and Field Engineers on work discipline, production costs, scope of work, quality, and safety.
Understands scope of work per the contract and identifies potential change orders, informing the Site Manager.
Familiarizes themselves with site conditions.
May act as a project leader in the absence of the Site Manager.
Performs additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
Supports economic conditions by hiring locally, attending job fairs, and public information meetings.
Acts as a project liaison with key community leaders and local landowners.
