Electrical Start-Up Technician

About The Position

This position is responsible for controls start-up, commissioning, and debugging of machine tool equipment. Duties include loading, testing, and troubleshooting machine PLC programs; editing machine HMIs; troubleshooting electrical wiring; and making minor adjustments or repairs to electrical systems and schematics. The position requires mechanical aptitude and PLC programming experience and/or education. Frequent travel is required during machine installations, mostly domestic and occasionally international, with direct customer interaction.

Requirements

Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics and Automation, or a similar program.
PLC or CNC programming experience; Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Beckhoff knowledge is preferred.
General PC and networking skills.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong math skills.
Willingness to work overtime as needed.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport.

Nice To Haves

Two years of relevant experience preferred.
Knowledge of Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Beckhoff controls.

Responsibilities

Program and troubleshoot PLCs.
Program and troubleshoot NC systems.
Program and integrate ABB and Fanuc robots.
Troubleshoot electrical hardware.
Parameterize and tune servo drives.
Network machines to plant networks and other machines.
Assist with customer part runoffs and final acceptance.
Commission and debug machine tool equipment, including loading and testing PLC programs, editing HMIs, and troubleshooting electrical wiring.
Make minor adjustments or repairs to electrical systems and schematics.
Travel to machine installations and interface directly with customers.
