About The Position

The Electrical Service Technician will be responsible for completing all tasks independently or with an apprentice. This role requires proficiency in terminating and pulling various types of data/cable wiring, including Cat 6 and coaxial cable, TSP. Knowledge of fiber optics and fusion splicing is a plus. The technician will perform electrical and low voltage rough-in work, including hand conduit bending and wire pulling. A strong understanding of blueprint reading and the ability to perform layouts from field sketches are essential. The role also demands a strong knowledge of electrical systems with the ability to troubleshoot and repair. Responsibilities include electronically submitting work order details, handling on-call work as needed, and traveling for training classes. Effective communication with customers and the Service Manager regarding service calls, maintaining clean work areas, and ensuring proper maintenance of tools and equipment are also key aspects of the position. The technician must communicate professionally with colleagues and management and adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years' electrical and data experience or appropriate training experience.
  • Work towards a journeyperson certificate or equivalent.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Strong electrical parts knowledge.
  • Proven computer skills especially Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer relations abilities.
  • Ability to bend conduit with hand benders.
  • Maintain a set of personal tools as required by the company tool list.
  • Skilled use of all power tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders, and knockout punches.
  • Capable of digging trenches, either by use of hand tools or in conjunction with an operator and power equipment.
  • Operate two (2) handed tools/equipment, cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools and jack hammers.
  • Operate company trucks with automatic transmission.
  • Operate and work from mechanical lifts (electric or gas powered).
  • Working knowledge of the most current National Electric Code (NEC) and NFPA70E.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work cooperatively with others as a team player.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of fiber optics and fusion splicing is a plus.
  • Larger conduit bending knowledge a plus.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all tasks independently, or with an apprentice, as required.

  • Perform layouts from field sketches.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems.
  • Electronically submit details of work orders upon completion.
  • Handle on-call work as needed.
  • Travel overnight for 1-to-2-day training classes, as required.
  • Communicate professionally and timely with customers and Service Manager regarding the scope of service calls.
  • Maintain clean work areas.
  • Ensure that materials, tools, and equipment are maintained in an orderly and safe fashion.
  • Communicate with other employees and management in a professional manner.
  • Conform to company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
