About The Position

JLC Electrical Contractors is seeking an experienced Electrical Sales Consultant / Estimator to join their growing team. This role requires substantial hands-on electrical knowledge to evaluate projects, communicate with customers, develop accurate pricing, and ensure profitable job execution. The ideal candidate will be personable, knowledgeable, adaptable, organized, and comfortable representing the company in various customer settings.

Requirements

  • Strong, seasoned electrical field experience is required.
  • Thorough understanding of residential and/or commercial electrical systems.
  • Ability to walk a project and recognize the labor, materials, equipment, and logistics necessary to complete it correctly.
  • Strong understanding of electrical pricing and job costing.
  • Awareness of current electrical-industry pricing and changing material costs.
  • Ability to learn JLC's pricing structure and adapt quickly.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional, personable, and comfortable speaking with homeowners, contractors, property managers, and business owners.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to think on your feet and solve problems in the field.
  • Comfortable discussing project budgets and pricing with customers.
  • Able to explain technical electrical information in a way customers can easily understand.
  • Organized and capable of managing multiple consultations and follow-ups.
  • Honest, dependable, accountable, and committed to high-quality workmanship and customer service.

  • Electrical estimating and/or sales experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with residential and commercial customers for on-site consultations.
  • Evaluate electrical projects and determine the appropriate scope of work.
  • Develop accurate, professional proposals and pricing.
  • Explain electrical recommendations and project options clearly to customers.
  • Build trust with customers without using high-pressure sales tactics.
  • Identify additional electrical needs and opportunities while on site.
  • Understand labor, material, equipment, permit, and subcontractor costs when developing pricing.
  • Stay aware of current market pricing and material-cost changes that affect electrical projects.
  • Understand how changes in commodities and materials—such as copper, aluminum, wire, conduit, switchgear, panels, breakers, and other electrical equipment—can affect job costs.
  • Adjust quickly as product availability, lead times, manufacturer pricing, and market conditions change.
  • Work closely with ownership, office staff, technicians, vendors, and project teams to ensure what is sold can be executed properly.
  • Review project details carefully before proposals are presented to customers.
  • Follow up on outstanding proposals and maintain relationships with prospective customers.
  • Help ensure projects are sold at pricing that reflects the quality of work JLC provides.
