About The Position

The Safety Engineer will develop and implement procedures, guidelines, and best practices to promote and ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our jobsites, innovation facilities, and offices. This role requires a proactive approach to providing a safe working environment through training, guidance, and the development of systems to report, monitor, and correct safety problems. The engineer will also be responsible for preparing reports, managing workload to meet deadlines, and maintaining appropriate records.

  • Minimum of high school graduate, holder of G.E.D., or equivalent studies/experience.
  • OSHA 30, CPR/First Aid/AED credentials.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management (or related field).
  • 5-7 years construction safety experience.
  • CFR 1926 preferred.
  • Lockout tagout.
  • NPFA 70E.
  • OSHA 500, BCSP current credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procedures, guidelines, and best practices to promote and ensure the health, safety, and well-being of jobsites, innovation facilities, and offices.
  • Inspect jobsites and communicate with project and safety teams to identify safety risks and concerns.
  • Provide expert guidance on best practices for identifying and reducing exposure to dangerous conditions.
  • Adopt a proactive approach to providing a safe working environment; provide training and guidance to employees via training, toolbox talks, newsletter articles, and other forms of written and verbal communication.
  • Develop and implement a system to report, monitor, and correct safety problems.
  • Prepare, compose, and initiate correspondence, memoranda, presentation materials, and reports.
  • Organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain appropriate records, files, documentation, etc.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Work with the Safety Team in the planning and execution of the Gaylor safety program and assist operational units to recognize and mitigate hazards on jobsites, offices, and facilities.
  • Support and maintain a safety culture focused on accident and injury prevention.
