The Marathon Anacortes Refinery has an Electrical Reliability Engineer opening. We are seeking a motivated, team-oriented individual to collaborate with refining personnel both onsite, peers at other MPC locations and MPC corporate discipline experts. Responsibilities include assessing equipment health monitoring findings, proactively identifying areas of concern, developing solutions, failure analysis, and championing the refinery’s electrical equipment mechanical integrity. This position is onsite at Marathon Petroleum’s Anacortes Refinery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Four (4) years or more of experience required.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft: Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint and Teams.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years post-degree engineering experience as an electrical engineer in the refining or industry
  • Experience with conducting risk assessments, performing failure analysis, and ensuring specification compliance
  • Experience providing technical support for maintenance work groups
  • Power DB experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical assistance and troubleshooting assistance in resolving site electrical equipment design, operation, and maintenance issues and contacts internal and external experts as required.
  • Utilizes reliability tools such as reliability analytics, failure evaluations, and cost analysis to maintain and improve equipment reliability.
  • Develop and implement new solutions and create new reliability programs targeting longer run-times, higher meantime between failure (MTBF), and safer operations.
  • Develops and reviews turnaround work lists and scopes for critical electrical equipment.
  • Perform failure analyses as needed to support the refinery, and support incident investigations as they pertain to electrical equipment.
  • Develops and maintains settings and specifications specific to power distribution.
  • Develops and manages system studies with applicable analysis tools.
  • Supports refinery maintenance, projects and other work groups to ensure equipment repairs meet or exceed OEM specifications.
  • Leads multi-department investigation teams to solve recurring electrical equipment failures, threats, and/or performance issues.
  • Directs the analysis and evaluation of failed equipment and/or components and subsequently provides a summary of the findings, which may include the issuance of guidelines, recommendations, or operational changes.
  • Creates project requests for reliability improvement projects, equipment upgrades, etc. including financial justification (life cycle cost analysis).
  • Champions MOC as appropriate.
  • PHA support; as site electrical equipment SME.
  • Initiate and/or support strategies that Improve reliability of equipment that affects production unit availability.
  • Initiate and champion programs which are proactive in preventing safety incidents and costly production losses and ensuring mechanical integrity of electrical equipment assets.
  • Facilitates post-audits to measure the effectiveness of significant reliability related projects and activities.
  • Networks with Corporate reliability groups including the Electrical Advisory Group (EAG).
