About The Position

The Quality Control Electrical Application Engineer will be responsible to Manage, Verify & Validate all harness production and vehicle conversion harness modifications of all FR Vehicle Electrical Systems and the connectivity to the OEM vehicle, from start to finish, ensuring the quality of all harness.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Technology with min. 5 years work experience in automotive harness production. Or without a degree; 8 years of automotive harness production.
  • Understand what is required for a reliable Electrical harness design.
  • Must be able to manufacture harnesses and understand how to Poka Yoke it to eliminate errors.
  • Troubleshooting skills are required and demonstrate the ability to effectively solve and analyze problems.
  • Must be detail-oriented and a self-starter, as well as possess the ability to function well under the demands of project due dates.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills needed.
  • Organized, accurate and possesses a strong attention to detail required.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Windows (computer), Outlook (email), and familiar with ERP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect output samples using industry-appropriate methods, such as comparing standards, measuring dimensions and examining functionality.
  • Check that the assembly or production line adheres to standards and procedures and complies with regulations.
  • Review prints and specifications to compare to produced goods.
  • Determine the causes of product defects and offer advice on how best to correct the issues.
  • Record inspection results by completing reports, summarizing re-works and wastes and inputting data into quality database.
  • Train the production team on quality control measures to improve product excellence and propose improvements to the production process.
  • Update job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and regular training.
  • Keep measurement equipment operating accurately by following calibration requirements and calling for repairs.
  • Assist in the prototype wire harnesses builds and troubleshoot and debug automotive systems while training quality and manufacturing personnel.
  • Design testers to verify functionality of new and existing harnesses to be utilized in the manufacturing process.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assure electrical systems are manufactured to meet all requirements and ensure vehicle electrical systems meet Quality and Cost targets.
  • Suggest low-cost design alternatives, common designs and standardization.
  • Constantly improve designs, processes, and timing, maintaining project specifications.
