Electrical QC Inspector
About The Position
We are seeking an experienced Electrical QC Inspector for a 3-month project in Elkford, BC. This role involves performing quality control inspections for electrical installation, testing, and commissioning activities in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), project specifications, and approved procedures. The inspector will verify the installation of various electrical systems, including power distribution, MCCs, switchgear, transformers, grounding, bonding, and lighting. Responsibilities also include inspecting cable tray, pulling, terminations, glanding, tagging, and dressing, as well as reviewing electrical drawings and ensuring compliance with hazardous area classifications. The role requires witnessing and verifying electrical testing, ensuring adherence to QA/QC procedures and ITPs, identifying non-conformances, and maintaining accurate inspection records. Collaboration with site supervisors, engineers, commissioning teams, and client representatives is essential, along with promoting site safety and electrical safe work practices. This position offers a platform for future opportunities within the company and integration into a new web app for enhanced communication and project management.
Requirements
- Electrical QC Inspection Experience – Mandatory
- Strong knowledge of CEC, CSA standards, and industrial electrical installation practices
- Experience with high-voltage and low-voltage systems
- Familiarity with hazardous area classifications and explosion-proof equipment
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
- Strong understanding of QA/QC systems, ITPs, and turnover documentation
- Excellent communication, reporting, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team
- CSTS Certification
- WHMIS Certification
- First Aid Certification
Responsibilities
- Perform quality control inspections for electrical construction and installation activities
- Inspect electrical work in accordance with CEC (Canadian Electrical Code), project specifications, IFC drawings, and approved procedures
- Verify installation of power distribution systems, MCCs, switchgear, transformers, grounding, bonding, and lighting systems
- Inspect cable tray installation, cable pulling, terminations, glanding, tagging, and dressing
- Review and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics, layouts, and cable schedules
- Ensure proper installation of hazardous area (Class I / Zone-rated) electrical equipment
- Monitor installation of heat tracing, lighting, receptacles, and temporary power systems
- Witness and verify electrical testing including megger testing, continuity checks, grounding resistance, and loop checks
- Ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and defined hold/witness points
- Identify non-conformances, issue NCRs, and follow up on corrective and preventive actions
- Review test results, calibration certificates, and electrical turnover documentation
- Maintain accurate inspection records, daily reports, test logs, and turnover dossiers
- Coordinate with electrical supervisors, engineers, commissioning teams, and client representatives
- Promote and enforce site safety requirements and electrical safe work practices
- Support continuous improvement in electrical quality and inspection processes
