About The Position

Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) Engineers are part of Ford Motor Company's Product Development organization and co-located at the vehicle assembly plant with the vehicle manufacturing team. The PVT Engineer has key responsibility regarding product quality. This position is located at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant and is responsible for the following components: Wiring (primary), ADAS/IPMA, and Battery - supporting the Mustang program.

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field of study
  • 5+ years’ experience with EDS/Wiring
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Good interpersonal skills, both oral and written

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in IRIS/JIRA/SIMPSN/QED and WERS
  • Experience using DET and Vector Tools
  • Successful completion of Six Sigma Green Belt training and Black Belt Certification is desired
  • Self-starter; and comfortable working in a plant environment; which may require Saturday and off-shift support
  • Flexibility to work at other B&A locations as necessary

Responsibilities

  • Own cascaded functional external quality objectives (R/1000 and CPU).
  • Lead and oversee Issue Resolution and Insights System (IRIS) warranty binning and analysis.
  • Contact dealers, review part returns, and analyze data as needed to establish root cause.
  • Work with larger problem solving team to establish root cause. Team to define ICA's, and implement effective long-term corrective actions.
  • Document problem solving progress using Single-Issue Management & Problem Solving Nexus (SIMPSN) system.
  • Support and present issue findings in plant quality meetings, Functional Quality Reviews (FQR), Director Quality Reviews (DQR), and Vehicle Quality Reviews (VQR).
  • Support cascaded internal quality objectives with the Variability Reduction Team (VRT) manufacturing co-leads.
  • Provide Incoming Quality (IQ) with any needed guidance for part measurement and drawing interpretation.
  • Support VRT "GEMBA" process walks to reduce internal fallout.
  • Support any needed Stop Ship action to advise severity, coordinate subject matter experts, establish containment, and prepare any needed repair procedures. Interface with Ford internal Critical Concern Review Group (CCRG) as needed.
  • Lead in-plant trials for design and supplier driven changes and assess impact to quality and production.
  • Provide in-plant trial feedback as part of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) completion.
  • Support Launch Team for major launches prior to OK to Buy (OKTB) and follow-through on any needed post OKTB issue resolution.
  • Lead identified minor launches as agreed with functional and plant team leadership.
