The Project Superintendent (PS) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising field and/or administrative operations of projects. They provide technical direction and are accountable for the safety, costs, productivity, profitability, and overall quality of the work, including self-performed work. The PS establishes productivity goals, measures performance, and schedules labor, materials, and equipment, including subcontractor work. This role may supervise one or more field superintendents. The position has progression steps: Project Superintendent I is for less complex projects ($20 million and under) with typically 3-5 years of experience, and Project Superintendent II is for medium-scale projects ($20-$50 million) with typically 5-10 years of experience.

Requirements

Four-year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience required.
Must have construction project and supervision experience in similar types of facilities.
Must have a thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, and methods), negotiations, engineering, cost control, scheduling, and safety.
Excellent communication, organizational, and supervisory skills are essential.

Responsibilities

Manages field operations, responsible for project success including profitability, safety, schedule, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Collaborates with the Project Manager to develop the project management plan (PMP), including scope, procurement, environmental, time, financial, quality, safety, and risk management plans. Demonstrates understanding of the change management process.
Responsible for the development and implementation of the Project Quality Management and Safety plans according to Sundt standards as part of the PMP.
Provides leadership and guidance to assigned project team members and subcontractors. Plans, reviews, develops, and manages the project team for relentless execution.
Ensures work is executed according to contract terms and conditions profitably.
Develops and manages the construction plan for successful execution of performed work.
Prepares and updates the original CPM Project Schedule, ensuring it is kept current to manage the project appropriately, utilizing LEAN processes and Weekly Work Plans.
Conducts weekly coordination meetings with project teams and subcontractors and prepares daily field status reports.
Interacts effectively with owners, teams, and other stakeholders to maintain a positive project environment and exceptional client experience.
Assists in the review of shop drawings, submittals, subcontract change orders, and purchase orders.
Coordinates the documentation of constructability issues, potential design conflicts, and clarifications with appropriate personnel.
Responsible for the timely completion of all punch lists and develops a schedule as required by the owner for the successful start-up and commissioning of all systems.
Prevents claims, identifies potential claims, quantifies, documents, mitigates, and resolves the effects of claims on a timely basis.
