About The Position

Thorson Baker + Associates, Inc. is a mid-size multi-discipline consulting engineering firm specializing in institutional and commercial building design throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. We are seeking an Electrical Project Manager capable of designing buildings utilizing various electrical systems, managing client relationships, and leading technical development for schematic design, design development, construction documents, specifications, and construction administration for senior living, mixed-use, and commercial projects. Requirements

  • Eight (8) + years of experience in the electrical design of electrical systems for buildings for senior living, mixed-use, and commercial building systems.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiar with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Engineering Intern certification required.
  • Capable of attending and engaging in meetings with clients, owners, contractors, etc. in a positive and productive manner.
  • Good work ethic and efficient in job duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional engineering license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design of electrical systems for senior living, mixed-use, retail, and commercial projects.
  • Prepare calculations and well-coordinated, technically sound construction documents that are cost-effective and constructible.
  • Manage project engineers, design engineers, and CAD/BIM technicians for building design projects, including quality control of documents in a friendly work environment.
  • Communicate and coordinate with architects, owners, other engineering disciplines, building officials, and other consultants throughout the design phases of building projects.
  • Prepare opinion of probable cost and review construction budget and change orders for building projects.
  • Meet client schedules and internal design and construction administration time budgets.
  • Perform office construction administration, including review of shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and coordinating with contractors, the design team, building officials, and owners through the construction phase.
  • Identify additional scope during the design phase and construction process and prepare additional services quotes for Principal review.
  • Travel nationally for pre-design site visits, design meetings, and construction phase site observations, and prepare technical narrative reports.
