About The Position

The Electrical Project Inspector position will represent Port of Portland projects providing quality control and inspection expertise in the area of electrical systems. Specifically, they will work on construction projects to ensure materials and equipment in any phase of manufacture, shop or field fabrication, delivery or installation comply with contract documents. Experience in public construction is a must.

  • 5 years' experience in electrical engineering
  • 2+ years’ experience with all ICC codes, specifically electrical
  • 2+ years’ experience with all state specific ICC codes

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in public construction is a must.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Electrical Engineering, architecture, Surveying, or related field preferred.
  • Certified Electrical Inspector Certification (CEI), Appropriate state issued Electrical Inspector’s Certification or equivalent license.
  • Experience in the public construction industry.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects materials, installation, and layout of work on the project site and evaluates its acceptability.
  • Determines and notifies contractor of unacceptable material or work with the Construction Contracts Manager’s (CCM) approval.
  • Serves as liaison between CCM, operations, Owner, and contractor during construction.
  • Performs or supervises quality control testing.
  • Maintains thorough and accurate records documenting the entire process of the project, which includes daily log for each job, updates from weekly progress meetings, updates from progress meetings with contractors, and all findings during quality control or inspection of the material, work, and job site.
  • Verifies quantities for contractors monthly pay estimate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Attendance at work during normal business hours.
