About The Position

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with three days in the office and two days remote. The position involves working and leading others in a project team environment for the design, modification, and/or upgrade of new and existing power plant electrical systems. Responsibilities include reviewing, supervising, and providing technical guidance in the production of design deliverables such as cable schedules, grounding layouts, various raceway layouts, electrical notes and details, electrical equipment layouts, and lighting layouts. The role also involves working with management on project scopes, budgets, and schedules, overseeing staff assignments and development for assigned personnel, leading multiple teams across multiple projects, coordinating with project management and discipline leads, developing and controlling project costs and schedules, and leading field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities.

Requirements

  • An Associate's Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma and equivalent technical design experience.
  • 15 or more years of detailed physical design experience in the development of grounding layouts, underground duct bank and embedded conduit drawings, cable tray and exposed conduit layouts, and electrical equipment location drawings.
  • Experience in the review of electrical physical layout drawings involving electrical equipment outlines and interface points.
  • Assist engineers with initial design requirements.
  • Produce physical construction layout drawings.
  • Extensive Microstation and/or AutoCAD design experience on power plants or large facility projects.
  • A thorough understanding of drafting and design practices and theories.
  • The ability to interface and communicate with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the power plant design process.

  • Experience with AI, automation, programming, or similar technologies is valued where relevant but is not required unless specifically identified elsewhere in the job description.

Responsibilities

  • Review, supervision and providing technical guidance in the production of design deliverables, including: Cable schedules, Grounding layout, Underground raceway layouts, Above ground raceway layouts, Electrical Notes and Details, Electrical Equipment Layouts, Lighting Layouts
  • Work with management in the development and establishment of project scopes, budgets and schedules.
  • Oversee staff assignments, evaluations and career development for assigned personnel on the large or several small projects.
  • Lead multiple teams across multiple projects.
  • Coordinate directly with project management and project discipline leads.
  • Develop, monitor and control project costs and schedules.
  • Lead field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities.
