GFT is seeking an Electrical Project Designer to join our Buildings and Places Business Group in Fife, WA. At GFT, the electrical team is dedicated to creating efficient, innovative solutions for electrical systems, ensuring comfort and sustainability in every project. From energy-efficient lighting and power systems to advanced electrical vehicle and photovoltaic system designs, our team contributes to a resilient and sustainable built environment, pushing the boundaries of building system design and optimizing performance while addressing the unique needs of each facility. In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development of project design concepts and criteria, understanding client requirements as they relate to the electrical scope of work, and aligning and developing detailed design documents including drawings, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and calculations. The role involves performing or directing junior staff in electrical engineering calculations and system modeling in Revit or AutoCAD, coordinating with clients, project teams, and other disciplines to design full electrical systems, and evaluating vendor submissions for compliance with contract documents. Additionally, the position requires consulting with construction personnel, reviewing and responding to contractor submittals and requests for information, performing site observations and collecting field data, and providing assistance to or leading proposal teams. The candidate will be able to work in multi-disciplinary teams and lead tasks and simple project teams. As an originator or peer reviewer of documents, the role ensures that the production of drawings and specifications meets scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements, and satisfies federal, state, and local requirements and GFT's Quality Management System. The role also involves making recommendations on project staffing and analyzing complex design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures, as well as providing input for proposals and pursuit of new projects.
