About The Position

The Electrical Procurement Lead is responsible for leading the estimating, sourcing, and procurement of long-lead electrical equipment for a wide range of construction and infrastructure projects. This role collaborates with clients, engineers, suppliers, project managers, and post-award teams to develop procurement strategies, evaluate proposals, manage supplier relationships, and mitigate schedule and supply chain risks. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with strong procurement, negotiation, and project coordination skills to ensure successful project delivery.

Requirements

  • Data center, mission-critical, healthcare, or large-scale industrial project experience involving long-lead electrical equipment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience procuring multimillion-dollar electrical equipment packages and managing complex supply chain activities.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, communication, and relationship-management skills.
  • Proven ability to drive procurement strategies that support project budgets, schedules, and operational objectives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. A master’s degree is a plus.
  • As a substitution to educational qualification, we will consider minimum of 5 years of experience in construction. Experience in estimating, product selection and procurement of equipment for construction projects.
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills, with a proven track record of successful supplier management.
  • Knowledge of supply chain risk management practices and strategies.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across different levels of the organization.
  • Self-motivated, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.

Responsibilities

  • Extensive knowledge of medium-voltage equipment up to 34.5kV, including MV switchgear, MV transformers, RMUs, Generators, UPS systems, ATSs, STS Switchboards (UL 891 & UL 1558), busway systems, and associated electrical infrastructure.
  • Support preconstruction teams with budget pricing, lead-time analysis, market intelligence, procurement strategies, and equipment budgeting.
  • Strong understanding of electrical power distribution systems and their application in commercial, industrial, healthcare, mission-critical, and data center facilities.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and review single-line diagrams, layout drawings, specifications, and equipment schedules.
  • Attend and participate in design coordination meetings with clients, Engineers of Record (EORs), contractors, consultants, distributors, and manufacturers.
  • Work closely with all project stakeholders to identify and eliminate scope gaps during the design and procurement process.
  • Review design revisions and change orders, update pricing, and develop value-engineering alternatives to meet project budget and schedule requirements.
  • Identify suppliers and evaluate their capabilities, reliability, capacity, and compatibility with project requirements.
  • Evaluate technical and commercial proposals, including pricing, lead times, warranties, service agreements, and contract terms.
  • Perform detailed bid leveling and vendor comparisons to identify scope gaps, exclusions, technical deviations, and design differences.
  • Analyze multiple supplier offerings and recommend the most technically compliant and commercially advantageous solution.
  • Lead sourcing, procurement, contract negotiations, and purchase order execution for long-lead electrical equipment packages.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, distributors, and key industry partners to secure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and reliable delivery schedules.
  • Lead procurement planning, budgeting, cost analysis, and support post-award teams with schedule management, contract administration, and risk mitigation activities.
  • Manage procurement activities from initial sourcing through purchase order issuance, manufacturing, delivery, and project closeout in either direct or support capacity.
  • Review equipment submittals for technical compliance and identify scope gaps, deviations, and constructability concerns.
  • Collaborate with post-award teams to manage submittal reviews, approvals, and coordination with project stakeholders.
  • Work closely with post-award teams, suppliers, and manufacturers to mitigate lead-time risks and develop recovery plans that prevent project schedule impacts.
  • Monitor supplier performance, market conditions, and supply chain trends to identify cost savings opportunities and procurement risks.
  • Maintain supplier relationships through regular performance evaluations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor and support procurement team members while promoting best practices, professional development, and continuous process improvement.
