Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking an Electrical Engineer/Principal Electrical Engineer in support of the Sentinel program. This position is located: Manhattan Beach, CA. This position will join the Command System team to support electrical and power design/analysis activities. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic and must possess fundamental electrical engineering skills. Demonstrated ability to foster diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including receiving mentoring and coaching from leads is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, and the ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in collaborating with Engineering teams and associated stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of experience, or 0 years of experience with a Master’s degree (for Electrical Engineer level).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience, or 2 years of experience with a Master’s degree, or 0 years of experience with a PhD (for Principal Engineer Electrical level).
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
  • Electrical engineering experience in electrical architecture, power system design and/or analysis.
  • Knowledgeable with power load management
  • Knowledgeable with Siemens Teamcenter PLM or equivalent.
  • Knowledgeable utilizing power system design and analysis software tool (ETAP) or equivalent
  • Comfortable with understanding industry codes, standards, specifications, and mil-specs.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc).

Nice To Haves

  • Working experience utilizing power system design, and/or analysis software tools, such as ETAP, PSS/E, SKM or PSCAD.
  • Working experience designing, troubleshooting (RCA) and/or implementing facility power systems and/or launch vehicle power systems.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC design, shielding techniques, and thermal management for electronic systems.
  • Experience with Siemens Teamcenter PLM.
  • Electrical-design experience in CAD (e.g., NX, Revit).
  • Experience with creating and executing schedule & technical recovery plans.
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, milestone reviews, and government contracting.
  • Experience in maintaining and reporting status of program activities
  • Experience with high-power and/or high-frequency systems, including power electronics.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains accurate power requirements throughout the product development
  • Supports power system designs, power load management, power analysis and will release power system deliverables
  • Works with system engineering for requirement definition and flow-down
  • Supports design engineering for electrical analysis, power architecture development, and part selection
  • Supports internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings
  • Supports program milestone reviews and delivers leadership status updates. Ensures appropriate coordination between electrical design and other integration teams.
  • May perform research, evaluation, and systems integration in electrical or electro-mechanical systems, cables, connectors, power systems, and more.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills to work effectively to understand system level interdependencies that impact electrical requirements and design constraints.
  • Demonstrate leadership principles – Integrity, respect, organizational, communication etc.
